What To Expect On Your Wedding Day

As your wedding day approaches, we know there are a million little thoughts and details flooding your mind. After all the planning and all the preparation, the day is swiftly approaching and you’re probably realizing that you also need to prepare yourself for what to expect. At Vargas Videography, we want you to focus on enjoying all the little moments of your wedding day. Which is why we do our best to help our brides (and grooms) know what to expect from us!
Every wedding is as different and unique as the couple, but we’ve outlined what a typical wedding day experience is like when Vargas Videography is filming your wedding. Remember, this is just to help prepare you for various parts of the day but we understand that your timeline may look different and are happy to work around that.
We know how special and fun it is for the bride to spend her morning getting ready with those closest to her so we allow her to have that intimate time with friends and family and will arrive towards the final touch-ups. When we arrive, we’ll start with detail shots! It’s always helpful to have one person (a bridesmaid or family member) be responsible for this so you don't have to worry about locating these items. These details can include any mementos that are important to you on your wedding day such as: your wedding invitation, the wedding rings, the bride’s shoes and jewelry, ribbon that’s also included in the flowers, your "something blue".
Once we’ve completed shooting all the special details, it will be just in time to capture special moments like mom helping you put on jewelry, your maid-of-honor adjusting the veil, your first look with your father or bridesmaids - you get the gist! After all the glamming is done, we’ll steal the bride away to get some portrait shots. Our brides always appreciate this time because it allows them a bit of peace in the midst of a fast-paced day.
If you’re doing a first look, that’s up next! We set up beforehand so that we’re able to beautifully capture this moment but also keep it an intimate moment between the bride and groom. One special thing we do is mic up the groom in order to capture his reaction when he sees his bride for the first time. This is a great moment to enjoy each other's company and spend time together before the hustle and bustle of the day.
We’ll coordinate with the photographer for the next shots that typically include couple portraits, family photos and shots of the bridal party such as walking, laughing and talking with each other, and all of the fun and candid moments.
After we’ve captured those special groupings and interactions, our team will head off to the ceremony site which usually takes about 30 minutes to set up. To prepare, we will mic the officiant or the groom so that we’re able to capture clear audio of the vows for the film. We’ll also set up a tripod to have multiple angles of the ceremony. If you plan on live-streaming your ceremony, we’ll set up for that as well. It always looks great in photos and video when the couple is celebratory after their first kiss as husband and wife or when they're walking down the aisle post ceremony. Feel free to let your personality come out in that moment and have fun!
We understand that it can be difficult to take in all the beautiful and thought out details of your day so we are sure to capture those during cocktail hour! From wedding guests enjoying your venue, to florals and centerpieces, to the wedding cake or desserts table - we get it all!
Now the reception begins and it’s time to party! One of our favorite moments to film is the bridal party introductions - it’s so fun to see everyone’s personality come out as we celebrate the newlyweds. When it’s time for speeches, we’ll mic everyone up so you’ll be able to have those moments captured forever. If there’s time during the ceremony, we may sneak away with the bride and groom to get a few more shots alone. This is another sweet moment for the bride and groom to slow down, dance without anyone around, watch the sunset, and enjoy a few minutes of peace as husband and wife. This footage is always so special! And then we end the day with a whooole lot of dancing and, of course, desserts!
